On Tuesday, November 1, the call we had been waiting for finally happened. It came in at 1:38pm. Our sweet birth mother was going to be induced at 9pm that night. It's one of those moments a person remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing. I was in Ross with our two boys and my mother in law shopping for our birth momma and her girls. We were putting together gift bags for them. We then left and went to pick up a couple of more things for this sweet family.
After getting the boys off to my mother in laws, throwing a bunch of clothes in a suitcase, tieing up a few loose ends, we were on the road by 9pm headed to the land of Oz! We have a wonderful friend who wanted to go with us and she and I drove straight through the night so we could get to the hospital as soon as possible. Mark and Madyson slept and in the morning Mark took over for us to sleep. However, there was no way I was going to be able to sleep. I was so looking forward to meeting our precious birth momma, our new baby and our energetic agency owner with the biggest heart I know.
At 6:42am, we got a text that our momma was waiting on delivery. At 7:38am, we got his first picture. Cruz was born at 7:12am weighing 5 lbs 14 oz and 17 1/4 inches.
We arrived at the hospital around 12:30pm, met our sweet agency owner in the lobby and she took us up to see our birth momma. And let me just say, we absolutely LOVE her. She is the sweetest lady. We had a great conversation and our family looks forward to developing a relationship with her family for a lifetime. They are already a part of our family.
We then went to the NICU to meet our son. He was having breathing problems when he arrived into the world and was being monitored. He was on a nasal cannula providing him oxygen. He was still grunting and extremely agitated.
When we came back that night, he was on a ventilator. He had received a dose of surfactant. He looked much more calm. His color was much better.
Daily Adventure: Lady at the rest stop in Kansas said they were expecting 1-2 inches of snow that night.
